Activity 1
P4C debate Conduct a Philosophy for Children debate using this question: ‘Why do you think children want to grow up faster than they do? Explore the ideas children have about adulthood. Are they healthy choices? When do some ideas change? Why do they change? |

Activity 2
The day I grew to four times my size! Write a story or paragraph about what it would be like if they physically grew up to 4 times their size. You could use Alice in Wonderland for a kick-start. What would the benefits of being extremely tall be? What would the disadvantages be? What would you make sure to do before you shrank back to your normal size? What would you miss doing? |
You will need: You could use our KS2 writing template and decorate the border with a drawing of you grown to four times your size! |
Activity 3
Create a CHANGE acrostic poem |

Activity 4
Create a ‘When I grow up’ Haiku poem. Enjoy the challenge of creating a traditional Japanese Haiku poem. These poems are 3 lines long and follow these rules:

Activity 5
D.T. activity – create a magic window Enjoy creating a slide and reveal a picture of a tree going from plain outline to a magically appearing coloured tree with leave. See the following video for a basic idea, then create yours to show a tree that changes into full bloom. |
You will need: Card, permanent marker, felt pens, scissors, glue, acetates. |
Activity 6
Balloon debate You are in a hot air balloon that is losing height rapidly. It will soon crash into the side of a mountain because it is too heavy. To prevent the possible injury of everybody on board, only one person will be allowed to stay in the balloon! Each person in the balloon has a different profession. As a class, choose a list of professions to consider. Is there one profession that should be saved? Split children into small groups to research the profession and create their presentation for why they should remain in the balloon. Examples for your list: teacher, doctor, police officer, judge, sports coach, pilot, engineer, builder, chef… |
